BROWN BAG BIBLE STUDY

(a.k.a., The Brown Baggers)

Thursdays at 12:00 PM

Bring a sack lunch and your Bible for an hour and a half study/fellowship into our continued our examination of:

The Book of Ezra, Chapter 9:

Ezra records events surrounding the return of the Jews from Babylonia (Persia) to Jerusalem and the rebuilding of the temple.  This book makes up one of three "Post-exilic" books in the Old Testament (Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther).

After detailing the first return of exiles from Persia to Jerusalem (chapters 1-6), chapters 7-10 introduces us to the Levite priest Ezra--for whom the book is named--and the second wave of exiles, 50 years after the dedication of the "second" temple by the first group of exiles under Zerubbabel.

"As soon as I heard this, I tore my garment and my cloak and pulled hair from my head and beard and sat appalled."
Ezra, 9:3

Pastor Douglas Escue is the instructor/host.
In addition to reading and studying a chapter, Hebrew word studies and visual references, charts, and maps assist in digging deeper into the text.
