The Book of Nehemiah, Chapter 5: 

Under Nehemiah's leadership, the Judeans ("Jews") who eagerly worked on the repair of the walls and gates of Jerusalem, also had to confront various forms of injustice among each other.

Questions to ponder regarding chapter 5:

 

  1. What are the economic conditions described in Nehemiah 5?

2.  How does Nehemiah's response to the outcry regarding injustice among his people serve as a model for addressing social and economic issues, especially among the disadvantaged in society today?

3.  How can Nehemiah's actions in chapter 5 serve as a model for addressing systemic economic injustices in today's world?
